Commissioner Karachi directs officials to prevent encroachments on government land

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Thursday directed all Deputy Commissioners, Town Municipal Administrations, Karachi Municipal Corporation and the Director of Anti-Encroachment, along with other relevant departments, to make coordinated efforts to prevent encroachments on government land in Karachi and to remove existing encroachments. 

KARACHI, May 14 (APP):Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Thursday directed all Deputy Commissioners, Town Municipal Administrations, Karachi Municipal Corporation and the Director of Anti-Encroachment, along with other relevant departments, to make coordinated efforts to prevent encroachments on government land in Karachi and to remove existing encroachments.
He instructed them to bring those occupying government land under the ambit of the law and ensure that those involved in encroachments receive due punishment, said a statement here on Thursday.
He also directed that action would continue against encroachments causing traffic congestion. The Deputy Commissioners submitted reports to the Commissioner Karachi on the  anti-encroachment operations being  carried out in their respective districts.
Deputy Commissioner Korangi, Dr. Masood Bhutto and Deputy Commissioner East, Nasrullah Abbasi submitted  their reports regarding anti-encroachments.
According to the report, Assistant Commissioner Shah Faisal Colony, Abdul Sami, carried out an operation against encroachments at Badal Goth near Shahrah-e-Bhutto and demolished four houses.
According to the details, the operation was conducted by a team comprising the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Anti-Encroachment Department and local police. K-Electric’s operational staff was also joined for necessary needs. Traffic police also joined to  assist to avoid traffic disruption.
In District Korangi, Assistant Commissioner Model Colony, Nade  Ali,  carried out an anti-encroachment operation. With the assistance of Mukhtiarkar Abdul Rehman, the Town Municipal Administration, and police, he removed all encroachments obstructing traffic flow from Malir Halt to Kala Board on the National Highway.
During the operation, action was taken against various fruit and juice carts and were removed. In total, more than 15 carts and stalls were removed, and violators were warned of strict action in future in case of any violation, including fines and possible arrest.
