Chairperson, Secretary BISP call on Governor State Bank
KARACHI, May 25 (APP):Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid and Secretary BISP Amer Ali Ahmad met with the Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmad here Monday.
The meeting focused on BISP payments through Digital Wallets in line with the PM’s Cashless Economy vision and the implementation of the interoperability mechanism.
According to press release, the chairperson BISP stated that, under the special directions of the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s vision for a cashless economy, the BISP was advancing towards digitizing beneficiary payments through Digital Wallets.
She further informed that the process of free mobile SIMs distribution had been expedited and awareness campaigns strengthened so that beneficiaries who had not yet received SIMs may collect them from their nearest BISP offices before June 15, 2026.
Highlighting interoperability, Senator Rubina Khalid said the initiative will ensure ease, transparency and empowerment by enabling beneficiaries to withdraw payments from any bank of their choice, thereby enhancing accessibility and financial inclusion.
Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmad assured full cooperation in implementing the interoperability mechanism for the facilitation of BISP beneficiaries. Director General Cash Transfers BISP Muhammad Idrees Mian also attended the meeting.
