KARACHI, Apr 17 (APP): The 4th International Conference on Information Science and Communication Technology (ICISCT 2026), joint venture of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology and University of Karachi, was held at the University of Karachi, featuring the top IT professionals, industry leaders, faculty and students. Chairperson of Zakir Ali Khan Foundation, Mrs. Erum Akbar Ali Khan, also attended the conference.
Speaking on this occasion, Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, said that the conference exemplifies the spirit of collaboration, showcasing remarkable achievements that highlight the transformative benefits of communication technology and information science. Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqui, said that we are living in the age of information technology, where artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in diagnosis, disease care, and enhancing various aspects of healthcare. However, it is essential to approach AI with caution and mindfulness, ensuring that we remain independent and informed users of this powerful technology. By doing so, we can harness its benefits while safeguarding our autonomy and making informed decisions about our health and well-being.
Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, underscored that the progress of Muslim nations lies in modern education, science, and technology. He cited Iran as an example of how knowledge can empower nations to stand against global powers, while pointing out that China’s focus on human resource development has led to remarkable growth.
Malaysia’s Consul General Herman Hardynata Ahmad said universities today are not merely educational institutions but central hubs for research, innovation, and practical solutions.
Morocco’s Consul General Mirza Ishtiaq Baig highlighted Morocco’s rapidly growing IT sector and invited Pakistani experts and investors to participate in upcoming IT exhibitions, while confirming ongoing work on student exchange programs.
Ethiopia’s Honorary Consul General Ibrahim Khalid Tawab remarked that modern technology is transforming lifestyles, trade, and global relations, reducing distances and enabling problem-solving across borders.
Earlier, KU’s Chairman of the Department of Computer Science Professor Dr Sadiq Ali Khan delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of the conference and briefing participants on the research papers and scientific advancements presented.
