Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls likely

ISLAMABAD, Aug 7 (APP): Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at a number of places of Islamabad, upper Punjab, while at scattered places of Khaber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA, Lower Sindh, Eastern Balochistan during next 24 hours.

Rainfall is likely in Rawalpindi at Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions and Kashmir whereas at scattered places of KP in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, D.I Khan, Bannu divisions, FATA Lower Sindh and Eastern Balochistan and also at isolated places of upper Sindh, south Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Heavy falls may generate flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, KP and Kashmir, an official of Met office told APP.

Heat low lies over north Balochistan. Monsoon currents are penetrating in southern parts while good monsoon currents are also penetrating in upper parts of the country and likely to intensify during next 24 hours. A westerly wave is affecting northeastern parts of Afghanistan and its adjoining areas.

In last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places of Sindh, upper Punjab while at isolated places of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Quetta division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Weather remained hot and humid elsewhere in the country during this time span.
