GUJRAT,Aug 04 (APP):A woman was killed after a speeding truck veered onto a roadside footpath near the Punjab Bank in Lalamusa,here on Tuesday.
According to Rescue 1122,the Hyundai Shehzore truck was travelling from Kharian to Lalamusa when the driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle.
The truck swerved off the road and struck a woman,believed to be around 45 years old,who was sitting on the footpath.As a result,she died on the spot.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
After completing legal formalities,Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Lalamusa for medico-legal procedures.
Further investigation was underway.
