FAISALABAD, Sep 15 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) swung into full-scale emergency mode on Tuesday

as intermittent rain lashed different parts of the city, with Ghulam Muhammad Abad (GMA)

Water Works recording the highest rainfall of 36 millimeters.

WASA Managing Director Engineer Saqib Raza ordered round-the-clock drainage operations

to prevent water accumulation on major roads and at key public points.

WASA spokesman Qadeer Sikandar said that WASA MD, acting on the weather forecast,

had already placed the operations staff on high alert and directed them to remain present

at their designated points to ensure an immediate response to any water accumulation.

He said that all dewatering sets and other drainage machinery had been made fully operational

while all disposal stations were being run at full capacity to ensure speedy removal of rainwater.

Engineer Saqib Raza further directed field teams to take special measures for the immediate

clearance of all ponding points and ensure that water was drained from main roads and major

intersections at the earliest.

He stressed that no delay would be tolerated in drainage operations and instructed the concerned

staff to continuously monitor the situation and respond promptly to public complaints during the

spell of rain.
