Two robbers arrested in police encounter

FAISALABAD, May 19 (APP): Two alleged robbers were arrested in injured condition during a police encounter in

Batala Colony police limits.

Police spokesman Tariq Jutt said here on Tuesday that four armed robbers had snatched a motorcycle, mobile phone, gold ring and cash amounting to Rs65,000 from a citizen at gunpoint near Siddiq Chowk before fleeing towards Palak Chowk.

Acting promptly, policemen launched a chase operation and surrounded the suspects in the area.

The accused opened indiscriminate firing on officials while police retaliated.

 After the firing stopped, two robbers were found injured at the scene while their accomplices managed to

escape from the scene.

Both suspects identified as Abu Bakar and Amir Sultan sustained injuries due to firing by their own fleeing accomplices during the encounter.

The police recovered the snatched motorcycle, mobile phone, identity card, weapons and other stolen items.
