Two PTI leaders sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand in Jinnah House attack case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday sent two PTI leaders, Haji Muhammad Fayyaz and Saeed Lodhi, to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case.

LAHORE, Oct 06 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday sent two PTI leaders, Haji Muhammad Fayyaz and Saeed Lodhi, to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case.
The accused were produced before ATC Judge Sardar Muhammad Akram Khan after completion of their physical remand.
During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that batons had been recovered from the suspects and their mobile phones had also been seized. He said investigators still needed to obtain details of the accused’s social media accounts and requested further physical remand for completing the investigation.
Appearing on behalf of the accused, Advocate Yousaf Wain requested that the court discharge them from the case. He argued that the two PTI leaders were not initially wanted in the Jinnah House attack case.
The prosecution, however, maintained that Fayyaz and Lodhi were involved in the Jinnah House attack.
The court observed that the suspects had already remained on physical remand for 16 days and the investigation should have been completed by now. It subsequently rejected the police request for further physical remand and sent both accused to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.
Haji Muhammad Fayyaz is the PTI Lahore general secretary.
Sarwar Road police had registered the case against several PTI leaders and workers on charges of attacking Jinnah House, the official residence of the Lahore corps commander, during the May 9 riots.
