SIALKOT, Jun 03 (APP):86 temporary encroachments were removed during a two-day anti-encroachment drive carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Daska Sadia Jafar,here on Wednesday.
According to officials,the operation was conducted at Fawara Chowk, Circular Road, College Road and Canal Bridge,where authorities cleared illegal occupations from roads, footpaths and other public spaces.
During the drive, the administration removed 86 temporary encroachments and confiscated 59 items.
Fines amounting to Rs.28,000 were imposed on violators, while 25 shopkeepers were issued warnings for breaching regulations.
Officials said encroachments were contributing to traffic congestion, obstructing pedestrian movement and posing safety risks for commuters and residents.
The district administration said efforts to reclaim public spaces and improve traffic flow would continue across the city. Traders and citizens were urged to refrain from occupying public property with authorities warning that strict action against encroachments would remain in force in accordance with the law.
