Traffic moves slowly in Rawalpindi as CTP makes all-out efforts to maintain flow

RAWALPINDI, Aug 19 (APP):Torrential rain lashed Rawalpindi, temporarily disrupting traffic flow on major roads, as the City Traffic Police (CTP) made all-out efforts to keep vehicles moving and facilitate commuters.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, along with traffic officers and wardens, remained active in the field as additional personnel were deployed at major roads, underpasses and low-lying areas to manage traffic and assist citizens.
The heavy rainfall caused water to accumulate on several major roads, temporarily affecting traffic flow. However, traffic police officials said the situation on a number of roads had been brought under control and traffic movement restored to normal.
Traffic wardens continued regulating traffic despite the rain and provided assistance to motorists and other citizens.
Lifters were also available for continuous patrolling to deal with vehicles that might become stranded or cause obstruction.
Additional traffic personnel were deployed at low-lying locations, while the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and other relevant departments remained engaged in removing accumulated rainwater from affected roads.
CTO Farhan Aslam urged motorists to drive carefully during the rain, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and exercise caution while passing through waterlogged roads.
He said that precaution could help save valuable time and precious lives, urging citizens to cooperate with traffic police personnel.
