Tightened exam monitoring results 20 candidates caught cheating, staff suspended

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi intensified monitoring of ongoing matriculation examinations, resulting in 20 candidates being caught cheating and strict action against examination staff, officials said on Wednesday.

RAWALPINDI, Apr 01 (APP):The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi intensified monitoring of ongoing matriculation examinations, resulting in 20 candidates being caught cheating and strict action against examination staff, officials said on Wednesday.

The measures were being implemented under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure visible transparency and strengthen the examination system, said a BISE spokesman.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, on the directions of Commissioner and Board Chairman Engineer Aamir Khattak, visited various examination centres, including Government Gilani Model High School Wah Cantt and Government High School Wah Village, to review Standard Operating Procedures, CCTV surveillance and security arrangements.

He said a modern command and control room established at the board office was ensuring continuous online monitoring of all examination processes, leading to improved discipline and transparency.

As a result of effective surveillance, cheating cases were detected at multiple centres, including one each at Talagang, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed and Skoat Kallar Syedan, while 16 cases were reported at Government Higher Secondary School Basali. All cases have been registered as unfair means cases and forwarded to the board’s discipline branch.

Strict action was also taken against examination staff. One invigilator at Government Higher Secondary School Basali was removed from duty, while the superintendent and deputy superintendent at Government Girls High School Kahuta were suspended. In total, staff of two examination centres, including a superintendent, a deputy superintendent and an invigilator, were suspended.

The spokesperson said that a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against cheating mafia and negligence, adding that all possible measures were being taken to ensure a fair and transparent examination system.
