TERC reviews dengue situation, marks Dengue Day in Murree

RAWALPINDI, Jun 15 (APP): A meeting of the Tehsil Emergency Response Committee was held in Murree on World Dengue Day, followed by an awareness walk to highlight preventive measures against the disease.

Assistant Commissioner Murree Arshad Iqbal chaired the meeting, while Deputy District Officer Health Dr Maryam Ali Abbasi briefed participants on the current dengue situation, precautionary measures and government initiatives.
Health Inspector and Dengue Focal Person Rana Karamat Ali presented a detailed overview of dengue surveillance, field activities and progress on anti-dengue campaigns.
Officials from various departments attended the meeting and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-departmental coordination to eliminate dengue. Several key decisions were also taken.
The assistant commissioner directed all departments to accelerate anti-dengue activities and said negligence in field operations would not be tolerated. He stressed the need for weekly identification of hotspots and timely reporting to address potential risks.
It was decided that departments would ensure printing and distribution of awareness material among the public, while all institutions were directed to submit weekly “No Dengue Larva Detection Certificates” to improve monitoring.
Later, an awareness walk led by the assistant commissioner was held, attended by officials and citizens. Participants urged the public to maintain cleanliness and avoid stagnant water to prevent dengue mosquito breeding.
