Suthra Punjab program a game changer: minister

LAHORE, Jun 23 (APP):A meeting chaired by Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique reviewed progress on the Punjab Development Program (PDP).
Additional Secretary Local Government Mehreen Fahim Abbasi and representatives of NESPAK briefed the provincial minister on the PDP.
Zeeshan Rafique said that the “Maryum Nawaz’s Sohna Punjab” program is a game changer that will be a means of providing modern municipal facilities to the cities of Punjab. He said that development schemes have been started in a total of 51 cities under the supervision of the Local Government Department. “105 underground water storage tanks are being constructed in 49 cities”, he observed.
The minister said that work is going on rapidly on 114 drains under the PDP. “So far, 100 percent work of 40 water storage tanks and 23 drains has been completed, while the construction of 47 underground storage tanks and 27 drains is in the final stages”, revealed he.
Zeeshan Rafique expressed the hope that the construction of these drains and tanks will be completed before the rainy season.
The meeting also reviewed the delay in work on sites coming in Muharram routes. The provincial minister directed that the completed drain should be immediately connected to the underground tank so that the drainage of rainwater is facilitated.
