Suthra Punjab: Minister stresses capacity building of field staff

LAHORE, Aug 20 (APP): Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, during a meeting regarding the Suthra Punjab program at the Civil Secretariat, stressed capacity building of field monitoring officers (FMOs) and tehsil managers saying that FMOs should regularly check the attendance of sanitation workers at the level of union councils.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak and DG Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed, while the Managing Directors of the district agencies participated through video link. On this occasion, a detailed review of the performance of the district agencies and other issues was taken.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique said that all possible steps are being taken to achieve the cleanliness targets. He warned that strict action will be taken against absenteeism and laxity in waste collection. “Regular shifting of waste from waste enclosures and temporary collection points (TCPs) should be ensured”, he urged. The Minister for Local Government said that after every rain in the monsoon season, the roadsides should be cleaned immediately. “For this, both mechanical and manual sweeping methods should be used”, he added. He said that complaints received on the helpline and app should be redressed as soon as possible. Zeeshan Rafique while directing to activate anti-littering strategies against littering said that the cleaning process in commercial areas should continue till night. “There should be no negligence in collecting waste from railway tracks as well”, he directed.
