Sundas Foundation holds seminar on World Blood Donor Day

LAHORE, Jun 13 (APP): The Sundas Foundation organised a special seminar at the Children’s Library Complex, Lahore, to mark World Blood Donor Day, highlighting the significance of voluntary blood donation and raising awareness about the challenges faced by patients suffering from thalassemia and hemophilia.
The event was attended by educationists, senior journalists, social leaders, and representatives from various segments of society.
The chief guest of the seminar was Sun Yan, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore. Other prominent speakers included renowned journalist and Patron of Sundas Foundation Suhail Warraich, Founder and President of Sundas Foundation Muhammad Yaseen Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar, and Director Special Initiatives, Punjab Education Foundation, Nusrat Baqi.
Addressing the seminar, Chinese Consul General Sun Yan said that blood donation is a noble and universal act of humanity and compassion, recognized and valued by all religions. He added that while individuals contribute to society as doctors, engineers, and professionals in various fields, blood donors play a unique and vital role by directly saving human lives and serving humanity in its purest form.
Highlighting the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and China, he said that the friendship between the two countries goes beyond strategic cooperation and has evolved into a deep cultural and humanitarian bond. He remarked that this is not merely a friendship between two nations but a relationship rooted in shared human values. He further reaffirmed China’s commitment to continuing investment and cooperation in Pakistan’s healthcare sector to strengthen medical services and improve public welfare.
On the occasion, Suhail Warraich paid tribute to voluntary blood donors and emphasized the importance of promoting compassion, social responsibility, and humanitarian values in society. He also lauded the services of Sundas Foundation in supporting patients suffering from blood disorders and called for greater public awareness regarding regular blood donation.
Founder and President of Sundas Foundation, Muhammad Yaseen Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), said that thousands of patients suffering from thalassemia and hemophilia depend on regular blood transfusions for survival. He urged individuals, institutions, and civil society to actively support voluntary blood donation campaigns and contribute towards saving precious lives. He also expressed gratitude to the guests and participants for their support of the cause.
Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar and Director Special Initiatives, Punjab Education Foundation, Nusrat Baqi also addressed the seminar and stressed the need to encourage youth participation in community service and voluntary blood donation initiatives.
Later, Muhammad Yaseen Khan presented a commemorative shield to Chinese Consul General Sun Yan in recognition of his participation. The seminar ended with a renewed commitment from participants to promote voluntary blood donation and extend support to patients suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, and other blood disorders.
