FAISALABAD, Sep 01 (APP):Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has ordered for formation of a special committee to develop a sustainable and practical solution to persistent traffic congestion and parking problems around Lyallpur Galleria on East Canal Service Road.
The divisional commissioner issued the directions while presiding over a meeting in which Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, Chief Engineer FDA Mehr Ayub, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rana Nasir Javed, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Usman Ghani, Lyallpur Galleria administrator Sohail Khattak and other concerned officers and representatives were also present.
The committee, headed by Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, comprises the Chief Traffic Officer, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation and head of Lyallpur Galleria administration.
During meeting, the participants conducted a detailed review of traffic bottlenecks, haphazard parking and difficulties faced by citizens on East Canal Service Road, particularly in the vicinity of Lyallpur Galleria.
Officials concerned gave a detailed briefing about various proposals relating to traffic management, road engineering and parking arrangements, while different measures for easing traffic pressure and improving vehicular movement were also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh said that comprehensive and scientifically planned solutions were essential for resolving traffic bottlenecks and other critical points on a sustainable basis.
He said that provision of better travelling facilities, maintaining smooth traffic flow and addressing parking problems effectively were among the administration’s top priorities.
He directed that the measures should be designed in accordance with modern road engineering and traffic management principles so that citizens could receive practical and durable relief while the likelihood of traffic accidents was also minimized.
