LAHORE, Apr 02 (APP):The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) on Thursday started extensive cleanliness arrangements across the city in view of the upcoming Christian’s community Easter festival, ensuring a clean environment for celebrations.
On the occasion of Good Friday and Easter 2026, the advance salary has been disbursed to Christian sanitation workers.
Suthra Punjab Authority DG Babar Sahib Din stated that a total of 16,815 sanitary workers and helpers, 81 supervisors, 600 drivers, 48 technical staff and 45 support staff have also been granted an Easter bonus of Rs 5,000 each. He said that a city wide zero-waste operation was currently underway in observance of Good Friday to maintain cleanliness in all main areas.
He further said that a comprehensive cleaning and washing operation of 263 churches will be ensured from April 2 to April 5, two days prior to Easter, to facilitate the Christian community in their religious observances.
In addition, special cleanliness activities, including manual sweeping and scraping, would be carried out in 81 Christian colonies to ensure a clean and pleasant environment, he added.
The DG emphasized that operational machinery will remain fully active in the field throughout Good Friday and Easter to sustain cleanliness standards across the city.
Babar Sahib Din urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation staff in keeping the city clean, adding that the agency remains committed to providing a clean and healthy environment on every occasion and festival.
