SPAL intensifies anti-littering drive across Lahore, inspects 11,261 hotspots

LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP): To maintain Lahore’s cleanliness and preserve the city’s beauty the Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore(SPAL) has intensified its anti-littering surveillance and enforcement operations across the city.
On the directions of LWMC CEO Sheryar Arif Khan, the Anti-Littering Squad remains deployed in day and night shifts to monitor commercial markets, major roads, and identified littering hotspots, ensuring strict compliance with cleanliness regulations.
According to the weekly performance report released by the Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore, the Anti-Littering Squad inspected 11,261 hotspot areas across Lahore during the last seven days.
In commercial markets, 1,094 shopkeepers were issued e-challan warning notices for violations of cleanliness regulations, reinforcing the message that maintaining a clean city is a shared responsibility and that negligence will not be overlooked. Enforcement against illegal waste dumping was also intensified.
Four vehicles involved in illegal dumping were seized, two legal complaints (istighasa) were lodged, and fines exceeding Rs 10,000 were imposed on those found violating waste disposal regulations.
LWMC CEO Sheryar Arif Khan stated that awareness campaigns are underway across commercial markets to educate shopkeepers and the public about their responsibilities under cleanliness laws. He added that warning notices are being issued to violators before formal
e-challan proceedings, providing them an opportunity to comply with the regulations.
The CEO emphasized that keeping Lahore clean requires collective responsibility, urging citizens, shopkeepers, and business owners to refrain from littering and illegal waste disposal and to extend full cooperation to Suthra Punjab sanitation teams.
The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore reiterated its commitment to sustained surveillance, effective enforcement and public awareness to curb littering, prevent illegal dumping, and advance the vision of a cleaner and waste-free Lahore.
