LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif views the province as a single and unified entity, where development is carried out without any regional discrimination, and South Punjab is given equal priority in all major projects.
She said this during a press conference here on Tuesday, while responding to recent remarks by Ali Haider Gilani.
She highlighted that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the first phase of electric buses has already been launched in South Punjab. She added that electric bus services are currently operational in 10 districts across the province and will soon be expanded to all tehsils.
The minister further stated that under the flagship “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing program, 200,000 houses are being constructed, with a significant portion allocated for homeless families in South Punjab.
Azma Bokhari also noted that new sports grounds are being developed for the youth in South Punjab, while hospital upgradation projects are being accelerated to improve healthcare facilities in the region.
She said that under farmer-friendly initiatives, Green Tractors, Kissan Cards, and Super Seeders have been distributed in large numbers among farmers in South Punjab to support agricultural growth and productivity.
The provincial minister added that Rs10 billion has been allocated for improving law and order and development in the Kacha areas, aimed at addressing both security concerns and underdevelopment challenges in South Punjab.
Azma Bokhari reiterated that the government’s development agenda is inclusive, transparent, and equally focused on all regions of Punjab without discrimination, ensuring balanced growth across the province.
