Police have arrested the alleged mastermind of a bank robbery in South Cantt and recovered Rs426,000 of the looted cash, three weapons and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran said on Friday.

LAHORE, Oct 02 (APP): Police have arrested the alleged mastermind of a bank robbery in South Cantt and recovered Rs426,000 of the looted cash, three weapons and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines, the DIG said the suspect, identified as Subhan Ali, a British citizen and former taxi driver in Scotland, was arrested following an immediate investigation into the robbery.
According to the DIG, the suspect arrived in Pakistan from Britain on September 16 and allegedly robbed a bank on Ghazi Road, fleeing with Rs726,000 and two weapons belonging to security guards. Police subsequently recovered Rs426,000, two pistols and a 12-bore rifle from his possession.
Police also recovered a white Honda Civic allegedly used in the robbery. The DIG said the vehicle’s registration number had allegedly been concealed with black paint.
Faisal Kamran said police were also investigating the alleged illegal purchase and supply of weapons and the channels through which they reached the suspect. The recovered cash, weapons, vehicle and other evidence have been made part of the investigation record.
The DIG appreciated the police officers involved in the arrest and recoveries, saying Lahore Police remained committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens. He also highlighted the role of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority system in supporting police operations against crime.
