RAWALPINDI, Oct 05 (APP): Rawalpindi to host hectic cricket schedule including T20s, ODI tri-series and a test match. The local administration is all set to welcome the visiting teams as all the arrangements have been given the final touch.
Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani chaired a high-level review meeting to finalize administrative, security and municipal arrangements for the upcoming matches, confirming that Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host seven international matches starting from October 9 till November 13.
According to briefing details released after the meeting, comprehensive security measures have been put in place, including the installation of walk-through gates, NADRA verification counters at entry points, and 200 dedicated CCTV surveillance cameras to complement the Safe City network.
A centralized control room has been established at the Sports Complex to oversee operations, while Civil Defence bomb disposal squads, IESCO power backup units, rescue ambulances, and fire tenders will remain deployed round the clock.
To maintain heightened security perimeters, the food street adjacent to the stadium was closed on October 3, and all temporary encroachments along access routes have been cleared.
To facilitate visiting cricket enthusiasts, designated parking zones have been established at Rawal Park open area and Satellite Town College, from where a dedicated shuttle service will transport spectators directly to stadium gates.
Municipal agencies have completed asphalt patch-work and street light repairs along Double Road and stadium perimeters, while the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has assigned sanitation staff to maintain cleanliness.
Additionally, a specialized 30-bed PKLI emergency field hospital has been set up inside the venue to handle medical emergencies during match days. The commissioner instructed all executing departments to maintain zero compromise on security protocols and municipal services, urging citizens to extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies throughout the tournament.
Pakistan will play three T20 matches with Sri Lanka on October 09, 11 and 13, while three ODI matches of tri-series will be played on October 18, 20 and 22, between Pakistan Sri Lanka and England. A test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will also be played from November 9 to 13 in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
