Section 144 imposed on swimming, boating in water bodies

SIALKOT, Jul 27 (APP): The district administration has imposed Section 144 across the district, banning swimming, bathing and boating in rivers, canals, streams and ponds for one month as a precautionary measure during the ongoing monsoon season.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq imposed the restrictions with immediate effect across all revenue limits of the district. A spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office said the decision was taken to safeguard public lives as monsoon rains could cause sudden rises in water levels and strong currents in rivers, canals, streams and ponds, increasing the risk of drowning and other accidents.
The notification stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions under Section 144.
The deputy commissioner urged citizens, particularly parents, to keep children away from hazardous water bodies and cooperate with the district administration by strictly following the safety guidelines issued in the public interest.
