Scrap shop gutted, Rescue 1122 averts major damage

Rescue 1122 firefighters successfully contained a fire that erupted at a scrap shop, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby properties and averting a potentially larger incident.

FAISALABAD, Jun 02 (APP): Rescue 1122 firefighters successfully contained a fire that erupted at a scrap shop, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby properties and averting a potentially larger incident.
Rescue 1122 spokesman said here on Tuesday that an emergency call was received reporting fire eruption at a scrap shop located between D-Type Gol and No.5 Stop.
Upon receiving information, multiple fire tenders and firefighting personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Rescue teams reached at the site and found a scrap shop spread over an area of approximately 10 by 12 feet engulfed in flames. The fire had mainly affected plastic scrap material stored inside the premises, producing dense smoke and posing a risk of further spread.
Preliminary information suggested that the blaze may have been triggered after a lit cigarette, allegedly discarded by drug addicts in the vicinity and it ignited the highly combustible scrap material, causing the fire to spread rapidly within the shop.
Rescue 1122 firefighters promptly launched firefighting operations and demonstrated professional expertise in tackling the blaze.
Through fast and coordinated efforts, they succeeded in bringing the fire under control within a short period and completely extinguished it before it could spread to adjoining structures, spokesman added.
He said that timely response by rescue personnel played a key role in minimizing losses and preventing a more serious emergency in the congested area.
Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries was reported in the incident and rescue teams ensured the area safe after hectic efforts, he added.
