The meeting was attended by Acting Chief Manager SBP BSC Rawalpindi Syeda Asma Aziz, Senior Deputy Chief Manager Umar Siddique Khattak, Additional Director General RDA Syed Masood Ahmad Bukhari, Chief Planner Muhammad Tahir Meo, Director Administration Nosheen Israr, Director Finance Masood Arshad, and representatives of the Bank of Punjab, Askari Bank Limited and Bank AL Habib Limited.
The participants discussed measures to facilitate mortgage creation, lien marking and housing finance arrangements for allottees of housing schemes falling within the jurisdiction of the RDA. They also reviewed ways to strengthen coordination between the authority and participating financial institutions to ensure the timely processing of housing finance applications.
The meeting highlighted that the Prime Minister’s “Apna Ghar Program – Ghar Ho To Apna” aims to provide affordable and accessible housing finance to low- and middle-income families. Under the initiative, eligible applicants will be able to obtain concessional financing for the construction or purchase of residential houses, promoting home ownership, financial inclusion and sustainable urban development.
RDA officials assured the State Bank of Pakistan and participating banks of the authority’s full cooperation in the implementation of the programme. It was agreed that the RDA would create public awareness through its official website, issue formal communications to approved housing schemes within its jurisdiction and disseminate information through print, electronic and digital media.
The authority also agreed to nominate a dedicated focal person to coordinate with participating banks and establish a one-window facilitation system to expedite mortgage creation, lien marking and the processing of housing finance cases, ensuring efficient services for eligible applicants.
The RDA reaffirmed its commitment to extending full support for the implementation of the “Apna Ghar Program – Ghar Ho To Apna” and pledged to work closely with the State Bank of Pakistan and partner banks to facilitate housing finance, supporting the government’s vision of enabling deserving families to own affordable homes.
