SARGODHA, Jul 03 (APP): The Sargodha Police registered 877 FIRs and arrested 2,085 accused during June 2026 as part of ongoing operations against crime, according to the district’s monthly performance report released on Friday.
According to the report, police nominated 2,295 suspects in registered cases and conducted eight police encounters, in which five alleged hardened criminals were killed, 37 arrested and 37 injured.
A police spokesperson said operations against proclaimed offenders and absconders led to the arrest of 258 proclaimed offenders and 35 absconders. During special operations, police registered 82 FIRs and arrested 102 suspects.
Police also seized 160 pistols, five revolvers, 16 shotguns, 393 rounds of ammunition and 44 cartridges.
In anti-narcotics operations, police registered 27 cases and arrested 27 suspects. Recoveries included 0.65kg of heroin, 2.16kg of opium, 33.228kg of charas, 4.591kg of ICE, 145.75kg of bhang and 4,008 litres of locally brewed liquor.
In a crackdown on the sale of gutka, mainpuri and mawa, police registered 29 cases, arrested 17 suspects and seized 14.061kg of the banned substances.
The report said police recovered stolen property worth Rs234 million, including 19 motorcycles.
It also highlighted progress in several major investigations, including the high-profile rape and murder case of minor girl Muntaha Zahra in the City police jurisdiction.
According to the spokesperson, coordinated raids were carried out in several tehsils, including Sillanwali, Kot Momin, Sahiwal and Shahpur, leading to the identification of an alleged inter-provincial criminal gang involved in high-value robberies across Punjab.
Police arrested a key gang member and recovered 3.4 tolas of gold, Rs7.8 million in cash, a Toyota Corolla allegedly used in the crime, three licensed weapons, two Kalashnikovs and a pistol.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police issued 234 challans during the month, collecting Rs177,000 in fines.
