Sandal Express restored after six-year suspension

The Sandal Express train service from Sargodha to Multan, which was suspended by Pakistan Railways six years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic, was restored on Friday.

SARGODHA, Aug 21 (APP): The Sandal Express train service from Sargodha to Multan, which was suspended by Pakistan Railways six years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic, was restored on Friday.
The Sandal Express was the only affordable rail service connecting Sargodha with Multan and had long served as a convenient and economical means of travel for middle- and lower-income passengers.
Punjab Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Zakat Rana Munawar Ghous Khan congratulated the people on the restoration of the service. He travelled on the train himself on its first day of operation from Sargodha. The formal inauguration ceremony was held at Jhang Railway Station, where the Federal Minister for Railways was also present.
According to the schedule, the Sandal Express departs from Multan at 6:30 a.m. and reaches Sargodha at 1:30 p.m. It then leaves Sargodha for Multan at 3:35 p.m.
The restoration of the train service was warmly welcomed by local residents, who expressed great joy and thanked the incumbent government for taking the initiative.
