Safdar reviews sanitation operation, directs zero-waste, anti-smog measures

RAWALPINDI, Sep 03 (APP):Managing Director, Shutra Punjab Agency (SPA), Rawalpindi, Rana Sajid Safdar, on Thursday visited Mukha Singh, UC-42, and reviewed sanitation arrangements, directing field officers to ensure a zero-waste operation and maintain cleanliness standards.

He also interacted with sanitation workers, inquired about their performance and problems and directed them to perform their duties with responsibility, dedication and diligence.

The MD said providing a clean and healthy environment to citizens was the top priority of SPA, and no negligence in sanitation operations would be tolerated.

He said public awareness regarding environmental protection and prevention of smog was equally important and directed the communication team to continue educating citizens, shopkeepers and the business community about the causes and prevention of smog.

Meanwhile, the communication team visited the market on Iqbal Road, UC-39, as part of the cleanliness and anti-smog awareness campaign and briefed shopkeepers and citizens about cleanliness, environmental protection and measures to control smog.

The team informed shopkeepers that burning garbage was a serious offence that contributed to air pollution and smog, urging them to dispose of waste in designated containers or hand it over to sanitation workers.

Citizens and shopkeepers were also advised to sprinkle water while sweeping to minimise dust emissions. Informational pamphlets highlighting the causes and harmful effects of smog and practical preventive measures were distributed among the public.

Safdar urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation teams, dispose of waste at designated places and avoid burning garbage to help make Rawalpindi a clean, healthy and pollution-free city.
