RAWALPINDI, Apr 07 (APP): The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) continued sanitation operations across the city during heavy rain, deploying workers to ensure drainage in low-lying areas and maintain cleanliness.
According to RWMC, activities including drain cleaning, waste collection, lifting and manual sweeping remained underway despite adverse weather conditions to prevent water accumulation. Workers were kept on alert in vulnerable areas, with additional arrangements made during morning and evening hours to minimise inconvenience to residents.
Alongside field operations, the company sustained its public awareness campaign under the Clean Punjab programme, promoting the use of Helpline 1139. Pamphlets were distributed in markets, while information about the helpline was disseminated through megaphones, vehicle-mounted announcements and banners displayed at key intersections.
RWMC said complaints were also being registered at helpline desks, with outreach efforts extended to schools and through door-to-door engagement to encourage timely reporting of sanitation issues.
Chief Executive Officer Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, Rana Sajid Safdar, said maintaining cleanliness during rainfall remained the organisation’s top priority. He said workers were actively ensuring drainage in low-lying areas, while the helpline awareness campaign aimed to facilitate prompt registration of complaints by citizens.
He urged residents to cooperate with RWMC in maintaining cleanliness and to use Helpline 1139 to report any issues.
