RWMC continues cleanliness drive amid rain

RAWALPINDI, Jun 04 (APP): Despite persistent rainfall, on Thursday, workers of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) remained active across the city to ensure cleanliness and facilitate drainage in low-lying areas.
According to an RWMC spokesman, sanitation teams continued drain cleaning, waste collection, waste lifting and manual sweeping operations during the rain to prevent water accumulation and minimise inconvenience to residents.
He said workers remained on alert in vulnerable localities, while special cleanliness arrangements were made during morning and evening hours to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater.
The spokesman said the awareness campaign for the Clean Punjab Programme’s Helpline 1139 also continued despite the inclement weather. Awareness pamphlets were distributed in markets, while information about the helpline was disseminated through megaphones and public announcements mounted on vehicles.
Door-to-door awareness activities were conducted in schools and neighbourhoods, and banners highlighting the helpline service were displayed at major squares and intersections. Kiosk desks were also established to register citizens’ complaints and provide information about the facility.
He urged residents to support the organisation’s efforts to keep the city clean and to contact Helpline 1139 for any sanitation-related complaints.
