Rs 4.5b trunk sewer project among key development schemes underway in PP-153

LAHORE, Jun 01 (APP): Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Monday chaired a meeting at the office of Assistant Commissioner Cantt Tehsil to review progress on various development projects underway in PP-153, including major sewerage, water supply and road infrastructure schemes.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Cantt Syeda Sumbal, LDA Director Haroon Saifi, Deputy Director Aqeel, MCL XEN Abdul Wahab, SDO Aamir Humayun, WASA XEN Salman Mirza, SNGPL Deputy Chief Engineer Abid, WASA Director Armaghan, Chief Engineer Cantonment Board Lahore, Deputy Cantonment Executive Officer Zulfiqar Bhatti, contractors and other officials.
Officials informed the meeting that several major projects were progressing in the constituency, including the Harbanspura-to-Phatak Sadar Cantt trunk sewer project costing Rs4.5 billion and installation of tube wells in UC-148’s Amna Park area. Other schemes included street rehabilitation, sewerage improvements and provision of clean drinking water.
The meeting was told that hundreds of streets in PP-153 had already been repaired, while work on several ongoing development schemes was continuing at a rapid pace. Upon completion, the projects were expected to improve civic facilities for millions of residents.
Officials of the Lahore Municipal Corporation (MCL) said contractors were working in two shifts to ensure timely completion of development projects. Representatives of WASA briefed the meeting on progress regarding sewerage networks, water supply schemes, underground water tanks and the trunk sewer project.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said resolving public issues and improving civic amenities remained the government’s top priority. He stressed that transparent monitoring of development projects was being ensured to maintain quality standards and timely execution.
The minister said all ongoing projects in PP-153 were progressing according to schedule. He added that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provision of basic facilities to the public remained a key priority of the Punjab government. “The journey of development and public welfare will continue, and no compromise will be made on the quality of development projects,” he said.
