RAWALPINDI, Jul 01 (APP): Punjab Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122) Rawalpindi has been put on high alert following heavy rainfall with thunder and gusty winds across the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator Muhammad Usman Gujjar, a comprehensive public safety advisory has been issued urging citizens to exercise extreme caution during the ongoing wet spell to avert any untoward incidents.

The emergency service urged motorists to drive at a low speed and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours, while residents living in low-lying areas have been advised to shift to safer places ahead of potential urban flooding.

Citizens were also cautioned against staying under dilapidated structures or weak roofs, crossing overflowing streams, and visiting hilly or mountainous tourist destinations due to increased risks of cloudbursts and landslides.
