RAWALPINDI, Jun 04 (APP): Rescue 1122 Murree has been placed on high alert following a weather forecast predicting rainfall and adverse weather conditions in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.
Authorities have urged residents and tourists to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and dust storms are expected in Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas on June 4 and 5. The forecast also indicates the possibility of heavy downpours at isolated locations, raising concerns about landslides and water accumulation in low-lying areas.
On the directives of District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Murree, Engineer Kamran Rashid, all rescue stations, ambulance services and emergency response teams have been mobilized and placed on high alert to ensure a prompt and effective response to any emergency situation. Rescue personnel have been instructed to remain fully prepared with the necessary equipment and machinery to deal with weather-related incidents.
A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Murree advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions, exercise extra caution in areas vulnerable to landslides, and stay away from streams, rain-fed waterways and other hazardous locations. Tourists and local residents have also been urged to stay updated on weather conditions and strictly follow safety instructions issued by the authorities.
