FAISALABAD, Jun 08 (APP): Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has formally launched a free dead body transport ambulance service to ease burden on bereaved families and ensure dignified and timely transportation of deceased persons from government hospitals to their homes or designated locations without any cost.
Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) and Chairman Communication & Works Department Chaudhry Arif Mahmood Gill formally inaugurated the service at Central Rescue 1122 Station GTS Chowk in the presence of media persons, community leaders and a large number of distinguished guests.
Speaking on the occasion, MPA and Chairman Communication & Works Department Chaudhry Arif Mahmood Gill termed the launch of service a commendable and welfare-oriented initiative of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
He said that the Punjab government is taking practical steps to improve public welfare and ensure the provision of essential services to all segments of the society. He said that the facility would particularly benefit low-income families who often face difficulties in arranging transportation for deceased relatives due to financial constraints.
Such initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to support citizens during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, he added.
Chaudhry Arif Mahmood Gill also praised the role of Rescue 1122 in public service and said that the emergency service has consistently set high standards in humanitarian assistance and emergency response across the province. The introduction of the dead body transport ambulance service is another significant addition to its public welfare efforts, he added.
Addressing the ceremony, District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Ehtesham Wahla said that the newly launched service would be provided completely free of charge to the public. He emphasized that no citizen would be required to pay any fee for the transportation of a deceased family member from government hospitals.
He said that Rescue 1122’s trained staff would ensure that the deceased is transported with utmost dignity, respect and care to the family residence or any other designated destination. The service has been introduced to provide practical support to citizens during moments of grief and reduce the financial burden often associated with funeral arrangements, he added.
He said that Rescue 1122 has always remained committed to serving humanity and extending emergency services beyond conventional rescue operations. He said that the dead body transport service reflects the organization’s continued efforts to address public needs through compassionate and people-centric initiatives.
Later, the ceremony participants inspected the newly launched ambulance service and described the initiative as a positive step towards public welfare, social responsibility and compassionate service delivery.
They expressed hope that the facility would provide much-needed relief to families facing emotional and financial hardships following the loss of a loved one.
