Renowned mountaineer Farhat Parveen passes away due to cardiac arrest

LAYYAH, Aug 30 (APP): Renowned mountaineer and prominent daughter of Layyah district, Farhat Parveen, passed away here after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

The acclaimed climber had earned widespread recognition across the country for conquering various challenging mountain peaks, bringing immense pride and honor to both Layyah and Pakistan.

Among her notable achievements was scaling the approximately 15,800-foot-high Tiger Peak in a record-breaking time of around two hours and 30 minutes. Tiger Peak, known for its extremely treacherous terrain and steep inclines, is widely referred to as the “Mini K2” of Pakistan due to its challenging climbing conditions.

Family sources confirmed that Farhat Parveen was fiercely determined to achieve the major milestone of summiting K2, the world’s second-highest mountain peak. However, her ambitious dream was tragically cut short by her sudden demise in the provincial capital.

The courageous mountaineer will be remembered for her outstanding contributions to Pakistani sports and her trailblazing spirit in high-altitude climbing.
