RAWALPINDI, Sep 29 (APP): Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has planned seven new development projects at a cost of Rs1.4 billion to improve civic infrastructure and public facilities in different areas of the cantonment.
According to official sources, the projects, with a total estimated cost of Rs1.395 billion, include construction of Phase-II of the Cantonment Board Shopping Centre at Tench Road, rehabilitation of 15 water filtration plants, repair of Pump No. 5 at the Sangjani Treatment Plant and improvement of street-lighting infrastructure at various locations.
An estimated Rs395 million has been allocated for Phase-II of the Cantonment Board Shopping Centre at Tench Road, while Rs200 million has been planned for civil works and rehabilitation of 15 water filtration plants.
Similarly, around Rs350 million has been allocated for repair of Pump No. 5 at the Sangjani Treatment Plant.
The development programme also includes installation of 120-watt LED street lights and related infrastructure at Westridge-I and Westridge-II, Allahabad Road, Westridge-III, lanes one to seven, Misrial Road and Range Road.
The projects are aimed at improving water facilities, civic infrastructure and street lighting besides providing better public services to residents of the cantonment areas.
The projects have been planned for implementation during the financial year 2026-27, while bids have been invited from eligible firms and contractors for carrying out the proposed works.
The development initiative is expected to bring improvements in essential civic facilities and infrastructure in several residential and commercial areas of the Rawalpindi Cantonment.
