RAWALPINDI, Sep 01 (APP):Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has kept its field staff and heavy machinery on alert to ensure public safety and smooth drainage during the ongoing monsoon rains.
According to the Board, concerned officials, sanitation teams and field staff are continuously monitoring rainwater drains, waterways and drainage points across the cantonment areas.
The Board has completed pre-monsoon cleaning and desilting of major drains, while re-cleaning is being carried out wherever required. Heavy machinery, including excavators, dumpers and trolleys, is being deployed to remove obstructions and ensure smooth flow of rainwater.
The concerned officials have directed field teams to remain vigilant and take immediate action in case of any drainage-related emergency to minimize inconvenience and ensure the safety of citizens.
The Cantonment Board has also urged citizens to avoid dumping garbage, plastic bags and construction waste into drains and waterways. Parents have been advised to keep children away from rainwater drains, flooded passages and electrical installations during rainfall
