LAHORE, Jun 06 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister(CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed authorities to take immediate steps for the establishment of model agriculture malls in 10 additional districts across the province,as part of efforts to modernize the agriculture sector and facilitate farmers.
At present,model agriculture malls were operational in Multan,Bahawalpur,Sahiwal and Sargodha,where farmers were provided agricultural inputs,expert consultation,modern farming facilities and other services under one roof.
According to an official announcement,the malls will also offer the latest agricultural machinery and equipment on a rental basis, enabling farmers to access modern technology at affordable costs.
The project is being implemented by GCCI in collaboration with the private sector.
On the chief minister’s directives,new model agriculture malls will be established in Faisalabad,Jhang,Okara,Khanewal, Rajanpur,Vehari,Rahim Yar Khan,Attock and Mianwali, among other districts.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government would take every possible measure to ensure the convenience and prosperity of farmers.
She added that the provision of modern agricultural facilities would help increase productivity and further improve farmers’ economic conditions.
The CM also reiterated her commitment to expanding the initiative across the province,saying model agriculture malls would be established in all districts in a phased manner to ensure farmers have easy access to modern agricultural services.
