Punjab teachers honoured on Teachers’ Day

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat on Monday said that more than 5,000 teachers across the province had been honoured with ‘Hero Awards’ in recognition of their dedication and services.

LAHORE, Oct 05 (APP): Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat on Monday said that more than 5,000 teachers across the province had been honoured with ‘Hero Awards’ in recognition of their dedication and services.
Speaking at a central Teachers’ Day ceremony, the minister said the honoured teachers were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals.
He said the government acknowledged the capabilities and hard work of teachers and appreciated their contribution to education.
Earlier, Rana Sikandar Hayat visited Govt School Lidher for his weekly lecture, where schoolgirls welcomed him with flowers and congratulatory cards on Teachers’ Day. He visited classrooms and presented flowers to teachers before cutting a cake with the students.
The minister also paid tribute to his father, describing him as his first teacher who taught him the values of service, social responsibility and public life.
He said his teachers had given him the light of knowledge and awareness, while his father had shown him the direction of life and laid the foundation of his character. He added that his father remains his greatest source of guidance.
