Punjab health minister reviews progress on children hospital, nursing projects

RAWALPINDI, Apr 06 (APP): Punjab Health Minister, Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting on Monday to review progress on the Children’s Hospital Rawalpindi and the proposed ‘Centre of Excellence for Nursing’.
Officials briefed the meeting that Centres of Excellence for Nursing were being established in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi with the support of the Asian Development Bank.
The minister directed that detailed visits of all proposed sites be conducted next week by the relevant authorities, including the vice chancellor of Rawalpindi Medical University and the deputy commissioner, to submit feasibility reports.
He emphasised timely completion of both projects, noting that required funds had already been released and maximum resources were being utilised to improve the healthcare sector.
He warned that contractors failing to meet deadlines should be blacklisted after due notice to ensure smooth execution of the projects.
Senior parliamentarian Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA on the occasion said the projects were being closely monitored and would be completed on a fast-track basis. Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Azmat Mahmood said that all health projects across the province are being completed on a priority basis.
He added that Centres of Excellence for Nursing will be established in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.
He emphasized that the local administration needs to take ownership of both projects.
Prof Dr. Muhammad Umar and GM NESPAK also attended the meeting along with other officials from relevant departments.
