LAHORE, May 24 (APP): The Punjab government has reportedly decided to restore and operationalize closed or non-functional water filtration plants across the province as part of efforts to improve access to clean drinking water.
According to official sources, annual grants have been approved for 5,182 water filtration plants in Punjab, while regular funds are also expected to be released for their operation, maintenance, and repair.
The Punjab Social Protection Authority will be provided annual funding for the restoration, monitoring, and upkeep of the filtration plants.
Officials further stated that special allocations have been proposed to improve the supply of clean drinking water in both urban and rural areas. Separate funds are also expected to be utilized for the timely repair and monitoring of filtration systems.
