Punjab govt expanding Model Agriculture Mall network for farmers: CM

LAHORE, Jun 06 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said the province had entered the era of “one-stop agriculture input markets”, under which farmers were being provided essential agricultural services and facilities under one roof near their villages for the first time.
In a statement on Saturday, the CM said four Model Agriculture Malls have been established in Punjab. The CM directed the relevant authorities to take immediate steps for setting up similar facilities in 10 more districts.
She said the Model Agriculture Malls established in Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Sargodha were fully operational and providing agricultural inputs, expert advisory services and a range of facilities to farmers. She added farmers would also be able to rent modern agricultural machinery from these centres.
The malls are being managed by the GCCI in collaboration with the private sector. Model Agriculture Malls would be established in Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara and Khanewal, while similar projects were also planned for Rajanpur, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, Attock and Mianwali.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government would continue taking every possible step to facilitate farmers and improve their livelihoods. “The destiny of Punjab’s farmers has changed, and better days have arrived,” she said.
The CM said Model Agriculture Malls would be established across all districts of the province in phases to improve farmers’ access to modern agricultural services and strengthen support for the farming community.
