Punjab Food Authority cracks down on food safety violations in Attock

ATTOCK, Jun 9 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its campaign against food safety violations by seizing a substantial quantity of expired food products during an inspection of a mart located on Karam Khan Road near the UC Office in Attock.
According to PFA officials, the inspection team on Tuesday recovered and confiscated 90 litres of expired cooking oil, 40 litres of soft drinks, and a range of other food items that had surpassed their expiry dates. The team also discovered the sale of prohibited Chinese salt, which is banned under relevant food safety regulations.
Taking immediate action, the Punjab Food Authority disposed of all unsafe and expired products on the spot to prevent their sale to consumers. The authority also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the mart for multiple violations of food safety and quality standards.
Officials reiterated that strict action would continue against businesses involved in the sale of substandard, expired, or prohibited food products, stressing that public health remains a top priority. They urged food business operators to comply with food safety regulations and maintain quality standards to avoid legal action.
The Punjab Food Authority further advised consumers to carefully check expiry dates and product details before making purchases and encouraged the public to report food-related complaints and violations through the PFA helpline 1223.
