LAHORE, Jul 03 (APP): Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department achieved record tax collections during the fiscal year 2025-26, collecting Rs 75.34 billion and registering a 35 per cent growth over the previous year.
According to a spokesperson, the department achieved 98 per cent of its revenue target during the fiscal year and collected Rs 19.61 billion more than the amount generated in 2024-25.
The department recorded a 46 per cent increase in motor vehicle tax collection, followed by a 26 per cent rise in property tax, a 41 per cent increase in tax on hotels, 17 per cent growth in professional tax and a 12 per cent increase in excise duty collections.
Punjab Excise and Taxation, Director General Umar Sher Chattha said the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for digital governance had played a key role in boosting revenue generation, while reforms in the tax system and enhanced transparency had restored public confidence.
He said the department was committed to achieving the revenue target of Rs 124 billion set for the next fiscal year by eliminating corruption, expanding the tax net and intensifying action against tax evaders.
He added that the department would continue introducing taxpayer-friendly measures while further promoting digitalisation and transparency in tax administration.
Umar Chattha congratulated the officers and officials of the department on their outstanding performance and appreciated their efforts in achieving the record revenue collection during the fiscal year 2025-26.
