Punjab CNF conducts 52 operations,seizes 678 kg drugs in two weeks

LAHORE, Jun 09 (APP):Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) on Tuesday intensified its crackdown against drug traffickers,conducting 52 successful operations across the province over the past two weeks,arresting 56 smugglers and foiling the smuggling of 678 kilograms of narcotics.
According to a spokesperson,the authorities recovered 514 kilograms of hashish,120-kg opium,20.5 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), 24-kg cannabis,138 grams of heroin and 1,220 liters of liquor from the arrested suspects during the operations.
The spokesperson said that 10 pistols were also recovered from their possession.
He added that Punjab CNF,besides conducting anti-narcotics operations was also effectively curbing the illegal transportation of weapons and liquor.
Since becoming operational on August 22,the Punjab CNF has recovered 22.8 tonnes of narcotics worth approximately Rs2.556 billion in various operations across the province.
Punjab CNF Director General Brig.Mazhar Iqbal said that the crackdown against drug traffickers would continue unabated and all available resources were being utilized to eliminate the menace of narcotics from society.
