Punjab Assembly motion seeks end to disparity in govt employees’ allowances

LAHORE, Sep 26 (APP): An adjournment motion has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly regarding the disparity in allowances for government employees.

Amjad Ali Javed, a Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) from the PML-N, submitted the motion, demanding that the Assembly address the issue of the Punjab government’s discriminatory practices in granting various allowances to employees.

According to the text of the motion, employees in certain Punjab departments are receiving a 150 percent executive allowance, housing allowance, and other perks, whereas some government employees receive a double medical allowance while others receive only a single medical allowance.

The text states that this disparity in allowances is causing unrest and a sense of deprivation among government employees. While some government employees receive monthly perks amounting to tens of millions of rupees, others struggle to cover their children’s education and household expenses due to financial and economic hardships.

The adjournment motion demands an end to the disparity in employee allowances and calls for benefits to be granted on an equal basis.
