The Punjab government has proposed Rs6.7 billion for ongoing and new development schemes under the Information and Culture Department in the fiscal year 2026-27 budget, aiming to strengthen cultural infrastructure and promote the creative industry across the province.
Punjab allocates Rs6.7b for Information & Culture; Film & Music School to be established

LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab government has proposed Rs6.7 billion for ongoing and new development schemes under the Information and Culture Department in the fiscal year 2026-27 budget, aiming to strengthen cultural infrastructure and promote the creative industry across the province.
According to official development budget documents, Rs1.432 billion has been earmarked for ongoing schemes, while Rs5.268 billion has been allocated for new development projects in the sector.
A major initiative under the budget includes the upgradation of Al-Hamra Arts Council and the Cultural Centre at Gaddafi Stadium. For this purpose, Rs750 million has been proposed to enhance cultural facilities and improve infrastructure for artists and performers.
The government has also planned a series of large-scale construction projects aimed at developing a modern cultural and media infrastructure hub in the province.
An amount of Rs880 million has been allocated for the construction of civic infrastructure and allied works, while Rs930 million has been proposed for a post-production and utility block to support film and media production activities.
In addition, Rs780 million has been earmarked for the construction of an administrative and studio complex, and Rs830 million for the development of a convention centre to host cultural and industry events.
The budget further includes Rs780 million for the establishment of a trade hub and backlots to facilitate film production and related creative industries.
Another Rs800 million has been allocated for the construction of a film and music school, aimed at training young talent and strengthening professional education in the arts and entertainment sector.
