LAHORE, Sep 29 (APP): The “Free Linguistics Conference 2026” was successfully organized under the auspices of Department of English Language and Linguistics at IER, University of the Punjab on Tuesday.
The conference aimed to foster intellectual collaboration and academic networking across institutions. During the conference, Prof Ahmer Mahboob from the University of Sydney presented a significant conceptual framework, urging participants to view the conference not as a static concept, but rather as an action-oriented platform where attendees engage in dialogue to derive solutions for real-world problems. The thought-provoking perspective received immense appreciation from the participants.
Addressing to the ceremony, PU VC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, highly praised this innovative and practical vision, reiterating the commitment that future conferences held across universities would be made even more effective and practical so that these academic platforms could generate tangible solutions to the country’s pressing challenges.
The conference featured distinguished national and international experts as speakers, including Özgür Taskin, English Language Educator; Zubair Torwali, Founder and Executive Director, BT; Dr. Vincent Greenier, Senior Lecturer, Linguistics and TESOL, University of Aberdeen; Dr. Fatima Sajjad, Assistant Professor, Political Science, UMT Lahore; and Caroline Schöpf, Researcher,
Applied Linguistics.
The administrative and hosting responsibilities were performed by Dr. Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry, Director, IER, University of the Punjab; Dr. Muhammad Islam, Chairman, Department of English Language and Linguistics, University of the Punjab; Dr. Maria Fatima Dogar, Lecturer, DLL and Linguistics, University of the Punjab and Convenor; Dr. Nadia Majid, Convenor; and Dr. Hafiz Nauman Ahmed, Associate Professor and Head of English, MUST Gujarat, and Coordinator.
