PSCA reunites abducted woman with family after 29-year

LAHORE, Apr 21 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has reunited a woman abducted in childhood with her family after 29 years, marking a major milestone for its Virtual Centre for Child Safety.
A spokesperson said on Tuesday that Fouzia was abducted from Karachi in 1997 at the age of 10 and remained missing for decades, during which she was moved across different areas, resulting in loss of her identity over time.
The spokesperson said the Safe City “Mera Pyara” team launched a targeted social media campaign using her childhood photograph. During the campaign, her brother, Momin Khan, currently residing in Saudi Arabia, identified her through a social media post.
He said the team carried out initial verification of documents provided by both sides, following which a conference call was arranged that enabled the siblings to recognise each other.
The spokesperson added that effective use of social media and modern technology is increasingly helping trace missing individuals. He said the Virtual Centre for Child Safety has so far reunited 69,309 missing and abandoned persons with their families.
Citizens have been encouraged to contact Emergency Helpline-15 and press 3 to report cases of missing children for timely assistance.
