DG KHAN, May 19 (APP): Police and district administration have recovered a huge quantity of wheat and flour in a sweeping crackdown on hoarding and smuggling across Dera Ghazi Khan district.
According to a police spokesperson, the special operation conducted under the directions of the District Police Officer (DPO) ran from April 1 to May 19, 2026, covering multiple areas of the district.
During the campaign, 1,880.5 metric tons of wheat were recovered, leading to 20 criminal cases. A further 661 metric tons of flour were seized, resulting in 3 additional cases. In total, 2,541.5 metric tons of wheat and flour were recovered and 23 cases registered.
The DPO warned that hoarding and illegal transportation of essential commodities would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Checkpoints have been strengthened, suspicious vehicles are being screened, and sensitive routes placed under heightened surveillance to discourage artificial shortages in the market.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the crackdown would continue with full force to provide relief to citizens and ensure the steady availability of essential food items across the district.
