Police on high alert as Christian worship programmes held across province

Punjab Police remained on high alert and ensured strict security arrangements during Christian worship and prayer programmes held in churches across the province, including Lahore, on the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem.

LAHORE, Mar 15 (APP): Punjab Police remained on high alert and ensured strict security arrangements during Christian worship and prayer programmes held in churches across the province, including Lahore, on the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem.
In view of the prevailing situation on the western border, the IGP had earlier directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to further strengthen security at churches and other sensitive locations. He also instructed supervisory officers to personally visit churches and review the security arrangements.
Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling in the surrounding areas.
Police teams also conducted search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive places to maintain a secure environment.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed the deployed officers and personnel to remain highly vigilant and keep a strict watch on suspicious and miscreant elements.
He also urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and peace committees to continue playing their effective role in promoting interfaith harmony and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in society.
